Why Does Hand Sweat Cause Metal Rust?

Human sweat is a colorless, transparent, or pale yellow liquid with a salty taste and weak acidity, with a pH range of 5 to 6. In addition to containing sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium salts, it also includes trace amounts of organic acids such as urea, lactic acid, and citric acid. When sweat comes into contact with metal, it forms a sweat film on the metal surface, which can induce electrochemical reactions and corrode the metal.

Sweating is inevitable, but to prevent rust caused by hand sweat, production staff should wear gloves or finger cots, or use special tools to handle parts. Avoid touching the products with bare hands.
