However, during the construction process, issues like collisions and cracks often arise, significantly affecting the quality of work. To prevent such problems, construction personnel must pay close attention to certain matters during the construction phase.
1. The misalignment of welding surface pipe materials should not exceed 10% of the wall thickness. There is a gap between the heat fusion clamp and the diameter arc of the pipe, which can lead to misalignment in the welding of MPP power pipes if the coaxiality is ensured with spacers. It is crucial to maintain both the pipe's direct standard and the heat fusion clamp's standard.
When temperatures are low, it is advisable to increase the heating temperature and extend the heat absorption time. During low temperatures, it is essential to elevate the heating temperature and prolong the heat absorption period. In cases where the ambient temperature falls below -5℃ or during windy conditions, insulation and preventive measures should be in place. The control of temperature at the welding joints is significantly related to the environmental conditions.
Heating pressure should be controlled in stages; it should be slightly higher during heating and lower during absorption. Welding of MPP pipes should not be conducted in rainy weather, as moisture will form on the pipe ends, leading to poor weld quality. Before heating, the pipe ends should be dried with a heating plate until all moisture has evaporated, then proceed with the pipe heating.
4. When the ambient temperature falls below -5°C or during strong wind conditions, insulating and protective measures should be taken. Otherwise, it will severely affect the welding quality.
5. Welding of pipe materials is not permitted during rainy weather. The surface of the MPP power pipe heating plate and the pipe ends should be cleaned regularly with alcohol to ensure that the heating plate surface is free of oil stains, water, and impurities.
6. When cooling weld seams, natural cooling should be employed. Using forced cooling may affect the welding quality of the pipe material.
7. The non-stick coating on the heating plate surface should not be damaged. Before welding, the ends of the pipes should be wiped clean with a clean rag to remove water, impurities, and dirt. The ends of the pipes to be welded should be kept clean.
When the end surface of the pipe to be welded has moisture, preheat the pipe end surface with a heating plate until all the moisture has evaporated, then proceed with the pipe heating.
When cleaning the ends of pipe materials, supervision is required to prevent injury to the hands.
When the wall thickness of the pipe is less than 6mm, hot melt bonding is generally not used, as it is difficult to ensure the quality of the pipe welding.
In addition to the impact of external conditions on the construction quality of MPP power pipes, the influence of human factors cannot be overlooked. If the construction personnel lack mature skills before starting work, the quality and effectiveness of the construction will not be guaranteed. Therefore, it is essential for construction personnel to undergo rigorous training before they can take on their duties.
