Recently, the Guangdong Province Engineering Survey and Design Association announced the list of winners for the 2023 Association Science and Technology Award. Our company, as a participating applicant, jointly with several other units, was awarded the first prize in the Science and Technology Award for "Key Technologies for Reinforcement, Reconstruction, and Performance Enhancement of Building Structures."

Witnessing the Power of Science and Technology Innovation

The "Key Technologies for Reinforcement and Performance Enhancement of Building Structures" project falls within the scope of reinforcement design and construction in the field of building structures. It effectively addresses various large and difficult problems that arise in the treatment of diseases in existing building structures and in urban renewal. An innovative system of light-weight steel concrete frame with dense steel tube column筒体 has been proposed, which achieves energy dissipation by reducing its own weight; for the reinforcement of existing energy-consuming components and vertical components, an innovative energy dissipation device and a convenient, safe, and reliable concrete replacement technique have been proposed; at the same time, comparative studies of different seismic reinforcement methods for weak frame structural systems have been conducted, forming guiding conclusions, which have significant engineering guidance for the development and updating of the addition, renovation, and reinforcement of existing buildings.

This innovative application has propelled technological advancements in the fields of building pathology treatment and urban renewal, ensuring the safety and reliability of existing structures at a lower cost, thereby avoiding the demolition and reconstruction of buildings, and saving energy and material resources for reconstruction. Taking the whole-floor concrete replacement project in high-rise buildings as an example, just eight projects have saved over 180 million yuan in economic losses for the country. Therefore, the application fully aligns with the national policy of energy conservation and emission reduction and low-carbon environmental protection, holds significant social implications, and offers considerable economic benefits.
