Shengte Basement Reinforcement and Renovation Case - Jixiang Building Basement Reinforcement and Renovation Project

The Jiuxiang Building Basement Reinforcement and Renovation Project is located at Jixiang Road, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, and was originally constructed in the early 1990s. It was designed as a frame shear wall structure with 27 floors above ground and 4 floors below ground (with a partial mezzanine on the first floor). Before the renovation, only the main structure of the basement's four floors was completed. Due to design changes, the above-ground structure was expanded to 32 floors, and the basement was increased from 4 to 5 floors, with the original fourth floor (civil defense floor) retained. While our company was reinforcing and renovating the basement, the upper structure was also under construction. The project began in August 2012 and, after 3 years, we, in collaboration with the owner, completed the entire basement reinforcement and renovation. We also connected the Mayhua Commercial Plaza and the subway entrance/exit. Adhering to the construction principles of "from bottom to top, dismantle and build one by one," "strengthen first, then dismantle," "dismantle the middle first, then the surroundings," and "alternating between dismantling, reinforcing, and new construction," we effectively addressed the challenges of anchoring reinforcement bars at joints, and also utilized the original structure's inherent protective support functions to solve the safety issues of existing buildings around the subway and other structures. This ensured smooth cross-project operations and received unanimous praise from all parties involved.

Project Features:

1. The upper level extension is being carried out simultaneously with the basement renovation, which involves a narrow construction area. Additionally, the impact on the upper structure and the weakened horizontal supports during the basement renovation must be considered.

2. Ingeniously utilized beamless hollow floor slabs to address the issue of ceiling height.

3. Addressing support and waterproofing issues required for connectivity with surrounding buildings and the subway.

Effective organization and refinement of the construction sequence are the safety guarantees for the smooth implementation of this project.
