Our specialized technical staff has summarized the research on high-temperature corrosion in high-pressure boiler tubes over the past few years. We analyzed the severe high-temperature corrosion that occurred after converting high-pressure boilers to burn high-sulfur anthracite coal. We examined the corrosion mechanisms and primary causes of high-temperature sulfur and chlorine corrosion under high-temperature conditions in water-cooled wall tubes, with a higher reducing atmosphere. Considering the actual situation of switching to low-sulfur Datong anthracite coal, we have modified the combustion system. The depth of cleaning for high-pressure boiler tubes must not exceed the negative deviation from the nominal wall thickness, and the actual wall thickness at the cleaned area must not be less than the minimum allowed value for the wall thickness. To prevent high-pressure boilers from rapidly heating and deforming due to fires, there are various measures available. The key is to adopt different methods based on different situations, such as using insulating and fire-resistant materials to block direct flame burning of the steel structure, reducing the speed of heat transfer, and delaying the time for the steel structure to increase in temperature and weaken in strength. However, regardless of the method used, the principle remains consistent. Fire-retardant coatings represent a relatively advanced fire prevention technique in recent years. High-pressure boiler tube prices are generally higher than those of standard high-pressure boiler tubes made from common materials, and their demand is usually larger. Therefore, proper maintenance and care of high-pressure boiler tubes during use not only extend their service life but also enhance their superior performance.
