1. Cautionary Notes

Welding wire should be stored in a dedicated welding material storage room, ensuring proper ventilation and dryness. The relative humidity in the room should be kept below 60%, and when stacking, maintain a distance of 30 cm from the ground and walls.

(2) Separate models and specifications for storage; do not mix them together.

(3) During the handling process, avoid throwing and placing items carelessly to prevent packaging damage. Once the packaging is damaged, it may lead to wire absorption of moisture and rusting.

(4) For spool welding wire, do not roll the container during handling. Also, avoid tilting or flipping the container to prevent wire entanglement inside, which may hinder its use.

(5) Do not stack welding wire too high.

(6) Generally, flux-cored welding wires do not require drying. Once opened, they should be used up as soon as possible. If the wire is not completely used and needs to be stored in the feeding machine overnight, cover the feeding machine (or wire drum) with canvas, plastic sheet, or other materials to minimize contact with moisture in the air.

(7) The CO2 used for flux-cored wire should be pure, anhydrous gas.

2. The Effects of Wire Moisture Absorption

Moisture-absorbing welding wire can increase the diffusion hydrogen content in the deposited metal, leading to defects such as pits and blowholes, which degrade the welding process performance and mechanical properties of the weld metal. In severe cases, it can cause weld cracking.
