    Laying Techniques for Geotextile

    2023-12-07

    1. Roll out manually to ensure a smooth surface, leaving adequate allowance for deformation.

    2. The installation of geotextile fabrics, whether long or short fiber, typically involves overlapping, stitching, and welding methods. The width for stitching and welding is generally above 0.1 meters, while the overlap width is usually above 0.2 meters. Geotextile fabrics that may be exposed for extended periods should be焊接 or stitched.

    3. Geotextile Seaming: All seams must be continuous (e.g., spot seams are not permitted). The geotextile must overlap by at least 150mm before being overlapped. The distance from the small needle to the selvage (the exposed edge of the material) must be at least 25mm. Seamed geotextile joints include a single row of locked chain stitching. The thread used for stitching should be made of resin material with a tensile strength over 60N and have equivalent or better resistance to chemical corrosion and ultraviolet radiation as the geotextile. Any "missed stitches" on the stitched geotextile must be resewn at the affected area. Appropriate measures must be taken to prevent soil, granular substances, or foreign materials from entering the geotextile layer after installation. The overlapping of the fabric can be natural, stitched, or welded, depending on the terrain and usage function.

    4. During construction, the geotextile above the geomembrane is naturally overlapped, while the upper geotextile of the geomembrane is joined by stitching or hot-air welding. Hot-air welding is the preferred method for connecting long-fiber geotextiles, which involves using a hot-air gun to instantaneously heat the joint between two pieces of fabric to a high temperature, causing them to partially melt and then applying a certain amount of force to bond them firmly together. In wet (rainy or snowy) weather when hot-air welding cannot be performed, the geotextile should adopt another method: the stitching connection method. This involves using a special sewing machine to perform double-line stitching connections and employing缝合线 that is resistant to chemical and UV rays. The stitching width is 10 cm, the overlap width is 20 cm for natural overlapping, and 20 cm for hot-air welding.

    5. For sewing, use a thread with the same quality as the geotextile, and opt for a material that offers enhanced resistance to chemical degradation and ultraviolet light exposure.

    6. Geotextile laying is completed and recognized by the on-site supervisor engineer before laying the geomembrane.

    7. The geotextile on the geomembrane is laid upon the geomembrane upon approval by Party A and the supervisor.

Layered geotextiles are sequentially numbered as TN and BN.

    9. Both upper and lower layers of the geotextile should be buried in the anchoring groove along with the geomembrane at the anchoring slot locations.
