However, some of these smaller-scale producers have limited production technology, resulting in subpar quality of their pipes. 1. Identify through strength tests
Manufacturers on the market may use recycled materials to replace some new materials in the production of recycled pipes. These MPP electrical pipes are difficult to differentiate, and their strength can only be determined through testing. Due to the lower strength of recycled material pipes, they often fail to meet regulatory requirements and are mostly used in direct-burial conduit applications.
2. Based on high-temperature assessment
Due to the fact that MPP power pipes can withstand temperatures up to 90°C, while PE pipes see a significant drop in strength above 40°C (with a 70% strength reduction), and soften and deform under external forces, high temperatures can be used to determine their integrity.
3. Based on the nature of the materials
This piping material features high-temperature resistance and is rigid, whereas PE piping is thermoplastic due to its inability to withstand high temperatures. After understanding this fundamental difference, it is easy to identify on-site without specialized testing equipment. Since the electrical piping is resistant to high temperatures, it does not decompose during cutting, resulting in a smooth and flat cutting surface. Conversely, PE piping, which cannot withstand high temperatures, softens and decomposes upon cutting, leading to a rough surface.
