Why Does the Glove Box's Gas Purification System Require Regeneration?

The gas purification tower in the glove box is filled with adsorbent materials containing water and oxygen. This new material has the property that its adsorption capacity and rate decrease gradually as the mass of adsorbed impurities increases, leading to a gradual increase in the concentration of water and oxygen in the glove box.

Additionally, if a small amount of water and oxygen is introduced during operation and the concentration increases, it will take a considerable amount of time to return to the pre-operation level when the concentration of water and oxygen, or the recovery time due to the concentration, reaches an unacceptable level. The purification tower requires regeneration.

1) The adsorption capacity of the purification column, i.e., when the adsorption column's ability to adsorb impurities reaches a certain level, its purification capability can no longer maintain the water oxygen concentration within the required range or the recovery rate of water oxygen concentration fails to meet the requirements.

2) Glove box leakage rates and the quality of contaminants introduced during operation.

3) Introduce a small amount of water and oxygen into the glove box, but according to the operational procedures, introducing water and oxygen into the glove box is extremely limited, with the amount of water and oxygen introduced within the first year not exceeding the adsorption capacity of the purification tower.

It can be observed that the primary entry point for impurities into the glove box is through the connection between the glove box and the gloves. Therefore, the leakage rate of the glove box determines the regeneration interval, typically ranging from one month to one year.
