To prevent a secondary fire caused by the rapid vaporization of liquefied hydrocarbons within the storage tank due to overheating in the high-temperature flame-baked environment following an accident, which could lead to overpressure and tank rupture or leakage, the deluge system should be activated promptly to cool the affected tank and adjacent tanks, thereby reducing the internal temperature.

When operating polypropylene storage tanks, protective measures are in place, and the shell test pressure of the valves must not be less than 1.5 times the rated pressure. The test duration must be at least 5 minutes, with no leakage from the shell packing to be considered pass. The sealing test is conducted at the nominal pressure, and the valve disc sealing surface must not leak to pass.
