Softwood boardCork is not wood; it's the bark of the oak tree, one of the oldest species of trees still existing in the world, with a history of about 60 million years. Currently, the world's cork resources are primarily concentrated along the Mediterranean coast, particularly in Portugal, which is known as the "Cork Kingdom."
Softwood board
1. Visually, the sanded floor surface should be smooth with no prominent granules, and the cork granules should be pure.
2. Inspect the dimensions: The edges of the cork board are straight, with minimal variation in sizes. You can piece together four identical cork boards to see if the seams are tight.
3. Test the bending strength of the surface: Fold the diagonal of the soft wood board, observe if cracks appear on the bending surface; no cracks indicate the best quality.
4. Inspection of bonding strength: Place small pieces of softwood into boiling water; the ones with no noticeable surface change are of high quality.
5. View the material: The general material for cork boards is oak bark, with thickness ranging from 4-5mm. High-quality ones can reach 8-9mm thick. Cork boards are rare and highly eco-friendly.
6. Look at the functionality: this signifies that the softboard must possess high-quality features. Therefore, a good softboard should offer moisture resistance, sound insulation, softness, wear resistance, environmental friendliness, and more.
7. Density Matters: Soft woodboards are categorized into three density levels. First, 400-450 kg/m³; second, 450-500 kg/m³; and third, over 500 kg/m³. For household use, choosing the first category (400-450 kg/m³) is sufficient. If there are heavier objects in the space, slightly higher density is recommended.
