Laboratory Benchtop Fume Hood

Fume hoods are essential safety equipment in laboratories, primarily used for expelling indoor exhaust gases. They are commonly used laboratory equipment in situations where harmful gases need to be vented and for cleaning and waste disposal during experiments.
The primary function of a fume hood: The main function of a fume hood is exhaust. In a chemical laboratory, during experiments, harmful gases, odors, and flammable, explosive, or corrosive substances are produced. To ensure the safety of users and prevent the spread of pollutants from experiments to the lab, a fume hood should be used near the source of contamination. In the past, fume hoods were used less frequently, only in experiments involving harmful and dangerous gases or those that generate a large amount of heat. The fume hood only serves as an auxiliary function to the lab table.
The purpose of using a fume hood is to exhaust harmful gases produced during experiments, thereby protecting the health of the experimenters. This means that the fume hood must offer high safety and operability, requiring it to have the following functions:
Release Function: The system should be equipped with an institution that dilutes harmful gases generated inside the fume hood by absorbing external air from the cabinet, and then discharges them outdoors.
Non-backflow feature: The function should ensure that the air flow generated by the exhaust fan within the fume hood does not reverse and flow back into the room. To achieve this function, it is preferable to connect one fume hood to one exhaust fan with a single pipe. If a single pipe connection is not possible, it should only be used for connecting fume hoods in the same room on the same floor. The exhaust fan should be installed as close to the end of the pipe (or at the top of the floor) as possible.
Isolation Feature: A non-sliding glass viewport should be installed in front of the fume hood to separate the interior and exterior of the hood.
Supplementary Function: The unit should be equipped with a channel or alternative device to draw in air from outside the fume hood when releasing harmful gases.
Wind speed control function: An intake speed is required to prevent the release of harmful gases.
Thermal and corrosion-resistant properties: Some fume hoods require the installation of electric furnaces, and certain experiments produce large amounts of corrosive acidic and alkaline gases. The countertop, lining, side panels, and selected water nozzles, gas nozzles, etc., of the fume hood should all possess corrosion-resistant functions.
