Desktop Fume Hood

The fume hood is an essential safety equipment in laboratories, primarily used for expelling indoor waste gases. It is a commonly used laboratory device designed for expelling harmful gases and for cleaning and draining during experiments.
The main function of a fume hood: Primarily, the fume hood serves as an exhaust system. In a chemistry laboratory, during experiments, harmful gases, odors, and flammable, explosive, or corrosive substances may be produced. To ensure user safety and prevent the spread of contaminants from experiments, fume hoods are used near the source of pollution. In the past, fume hoods were used sparingly, only in experiments involving harmful and dangerous gases or those generating large amounts of heat. The fume hood only serves as an auxiliary function to the laboratory table.
The purpose of using a fume hood is to exhaust harmful gases produced during experiments, protecting the health of the experimenters. In other words, it requires a high level of safety and operability, which necessitates that the fume hood should have the following functions:
Release Function: The system should be equipped with a mechanism to dilute harmful gases generated within the fume hood by absorbing external air from the absorption cabinet before releasing them outdoors.
Non-backflow function: The function should ensure that the air flow generated by the exhaust fan within the fume hood does not reverse and flow back into the room. To achieve this function, it is preferable to connect one fume hood to one exhaust fan with a single pipe. If a single pipe connection is not possible, it should only be used for fume hoods in the same room on the same floor. The exhaust fan should be installed as close to the end of the pipe (or at the top of the floor) as possible.
Isolation Function: A non-slip glass viewing window should be installed in front of the fume hood to separate the interior and exterior of the hood.
Supplementary Feature: Should be equipped with a channel or alternative device to draw in air from outside the fume hood when releasing harmful gases.
Control Wind Speed Feature: An intake speed is required to prevent the release of harmful gases.
Thermal and corrosion-resistant features: Some fume hoods require electric ovens, and certain experiments generate large amounts of acidic and alkaline gases with strong corrosive properties. The worktop, lining, side panels, and selected water and gas nozzles of the fume hood should all possess corrosion resistance.
