Nanjing Fire Brigade Officer Ma Bing Awarded "National Outstanding People's Police Officer" Title

The "National Public Security System Heroic Model Meritorious Collective Commendation Conference" was recently held grandly at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Ma Bing, from the Nanjing Public Security Fire Brigade, was awarded the title of "National Outstanding People's Police Officer" and was warmly received by Central leaders including Xi Jinping. Ma Bing currently serves as the commander of the Fuzimiao Detachment of the Qinhuai Brigade of the Nanjing Public Security Fire Brigade. Over the past 14 years of service, he has participated in over 2,000 fire-fighting and rescue operations, saving more than 300 people in distress. Particularly during the 2008 earthquake relief efforts, he was among the first to arrive at the disaster area and personally rescued 17 survivors trapped under debris, earning him the title of "Rescue Champion" for the Jiangsu Fire Rescue Team. Ma Bing has been honored with three third-class merits, successively recognized as a Chinese Fire Hero and one of China's Top Ten Responsible Citizens, and in 2011, he was named a Model Communist Party Member by the National Fire Department. For 14 years, the dangers of fire and rescue operations have been ever-present. In 2007, on a day in the afternoon, while serving as a combat leader in the Nanjing Special Operations Company, Ma Bing and his comrades rushed into the fire scene at a large building in Nanjing that housed production, office, and storage, rescuing over a dozen trapped individuals. During the final search and rescue return, Ma Bing, unable to find the way back and with his air respirator emitting a piercing alarm, calmly led his comrades into a sealed room, found a window, and successfully evacuated the danger. After being promoted, during his tenure at the Liwater Detachment, Ma Bing led the Detachment's Spring Breeze Action Group, advocating for the establishment of the "Love Fund Project" among all officers and soldiers, actively raising funds to help students drop out of school due to poverty and families in distress due to disasters. In 2011, Ma Bing was transferred to the Fuzimiao Detachment, coinciding with the opening of the Qinhuai International Lantern Festival. To quickly familiarize himself with the terrain and water and road distribution of over 3,000 units in the area, he walked 7 kilometers around the jurisdiction daily, equivalent to walking around the inner ring of Nanjing City 10 times in a month. Drawing on his years of combat experience, Ma Bing led the soldiers of the Fuzimiao Detachment to improve fire fighting equipment and invented the "Firefighter Personal Protection System," which forms a fine mist of cooling water, providing both cooling and a three-dimensional protective cover for firefighters' faces and necks during fire fighting operations.
