What should be noted when producing concrete utility poles through centrifugal casting? Below, our manufacturing facility provides a detailed explanation on this matter.
The molding of concrete poles involves placing the concrete-filled pole molds into a centrifuge for centrifugal densification. A centrifuge, to meet the production needs of poles with various diameters and lengths, often has more than twenty support wheels. The installation and adjustment of such a multitude of support wheels is quite challenging, as they require precise relative horizontal heights and longitudinal and lateral positions, which determine the actual level differences, straightness, and perpendicularity of the centrifuge support wheels. If these errors exceed the specified limits, the mold may experience severe jumps and movements during operation, affecting normal operation and leading to a high number of defective products and damaged machine parts.
Axial adjustment of the centrifuge's drive wheel is primarily achieved by adjusting the two round nuts at both ends of the shaft, either by moving them simultaneously to the left or to the right a certain distance. The original design ensures positioning and anti-loosening by creating a wide slot in the thickness direction of the round nuts.A 3.5mm slot with an M8 screw tightened at the center, perpendicular to the slot, to prevent the nut from loosening and to secure the position.But in the actual operation of the centrifuge, due to the significant impact force of the mold on the support wheel (reaching the center support wheel at full load)The high-torque bolt (1200 kgf) experienced frequent impacts (approximately 420 times per minute), leading to the loosening of the round nut. As a result of the nut's loosening, the outer race of the bearing continually moved outward under external forces, increasing the bearing clearance. This disrupted the positioning of the idler wheel, causing significant axial movement and radial跳动, affecting the normal operation of the centrifuge and the centrifugal molding of the pole. It even led to the cracking of the inner and outer circles of the bearing, the disassembly of the roller separator, ultimately rendering the entire bearing housing and idler shaft unusable.
To address the aforementioned severe defects, while striving to make minimal changes to the original design, two additional bearing seat end caps were added.The M10 bolt is used to directly and symmetrically support the end face of the round nut with two M10 bolts. After the bolts are tightened, a nut is then used to lock the bolt in place, preventing loosening. This modification has effectively eliminated issues such as abnormal gaps, wheel displacement, vibration, slippage, and bearing damage in the adjusted bearing. The long-term operation has proven that this method of positioning and anti-loosening is reliable.
