Explosion-proof model "d"
An explosion-proof type employs an enclosure that completely seals all parts of the equipment that could ignite explosive gas mixtures. This enclosure is designed to withstand the internal explosion of flammable mixtures that may渗透 through any joints or structural gaps without damaging the shell, and without causing ignition of an explosive environment formed by one or more gases or vapors outside. Components that could produce sparks, arcs, or dangerous temperatures are housed within the explosion-proof shell, which isolates the internal space of the equipment from its surroundings. The shell has gaps due to the breathing action of electrical equipment and gas permeation, which may allow explosive gas mixtures to exist internally. In the event of an explosion, the shell can withstand the resulting pressure without damage. Additionally, the structural gaps in the shell can cool flames, reduce the spread of flames, or terminate the acceleration chain, preventing the flame or hazardous flame products from crossing the explosion-proof gap to ignite the external explosive environment, thereby achieving the explosion-proofing goal.
The explosion-proof type "d" is classified into Class I and Classes IIA, IIB, and IIC based on the types of explosive gas environments it is permitted to use.
The explosion-proof type equipment is suitable for Zones 1 and 2.
Enhanced Safety Model "E"
An explosion-proof type of increased safety is a method that employs additional measures on electrical equipment which, under normal operating conditions, do not produce arcs or sparks, to enhance their safety level and prevent the possibility of dangerous temperatures, arcs, or sparks within or on the external components. It does not include equipment that produces sparks or arcs under normal operating conditions.
Electrical equipment structures that do not produce sparks, arcs, or dangerous temperatures during normal operation are enhanced for safety by implementing measures to lower or control working temperatures, ensure the reliability of electrical connections, improve insulation, and elevate the protection level of the housing. This reduces the likelihood of contamination due to dirt and moisture intrusion, thereby minimizing the potential for ignition faults. It also improves the safety and reliability of the equipment during normal operation and under specified fault conditions (e.g., motor rotor lock-up).
This type of equipment is primarily used in hazardous areas of Zone 2, with some types suitable for Zone 1, such as explosion-proof low-voltage asynchronous motors with appropriate protection devices, junction boxes, etc.
Intrinsic Safety "i"
Intrinsically safe explosion-proof types are characterized by circuits within the equipment that, under standard规定的 conditions (including normal operation and specified fault conditions), cannot ignite any explosive gas environment due to any electrical sparks or thermal effects. "ia" category electrical equipment is intrinsically safe as it cannot cause ignition under normal operation or when subjected to one fault and any combination of two faults. "ib" category electrical equipment is intrinsically safe as it cannot cause ignition under normal operation or when subjected to one fault.
Essentially safe systems focus on limiting the energy within the circuit. By reliably controlling circuit parameters, potential spark energy is reduced below the level required to ignite specified gas mixtures. The surface temperatures of conductors and components are also kept below the ignition temperature of the specified gas mixture.
This explosion-proof type is only applicable to low-voltage equipment, which is suitable for Zones 0, 1, or 2 (Exia) or Zones 1 or 2 (Exib).
