On-site Conditions:
An AC26V power supply for the control section was transformed using a transformer and then rectified through a bridge rectifier (without filtering). During operation, it was discovered that some proximity switches were not functioning properly (the relay was not engaging well). Later, I pondered if the lack of filtering was the cause, so I installed a 50V 33uF capacitor. After installation, the performance improved, but the voltage increased from the original DC23V to DC33V. I would like to inquire if this voltage level could damage a DC24V load?
Solution:
Potential load damage may occur. The capacitance size can be determined by testing methods; you can try with 5-10uF. The larger the capacitance, the higher the voltage.
If a bridge rectifier is replaced with a half-wave rectifier, the filtered output voltage is precisely around 24V.
