The insulators are made by gluing ceramic parts and upper and lower metal fittings with adhesive. Elastic pads are placed between the ceramic part end and the metal fitting glued contact areas. The ceramic parts are glued with structures such as sandblasting, knurling, and grooving to ensure mechanical strength, prevent loosening, and twisting. The ceramic surface is uniformly coated with white glaze, and the metal fittings are painted with gray magnetic paint. The main structure of the ceramic parts of the insulators has two types: a hollow partition (penetrable) structure and a solid (non-penetrable) structure. The joint glued pillar insulators are generally of the solid non-penetrable structure. This structure reduces maintenance and testing work compared to the previous one. The ceramic parts of the insulators come in two shapes: with or without棱, the multi-ridge shape increases the surface distance, and has better electrical performance than the less-ridge shape. All products except for the gradually phased-out external glued pillar insulators are multi-ridge. The internal glued structure, where the metal fittings are glued into the ceramic part holes, increases the insulation distance, improves electrical performance, and also reduces the space occupied during installation. However, due to the disadvantage of internal gluing in increasing mechanical strength, insulators with high mechanical strength requirements should use the joint glued assembly (i.e., the upper fittings use internal gluing, and the lower fittings use external gluing).
