The insulators are made by bonding a ceramic piece with upper and lower metal attachments using adhesive. The contact area between the ceramic piece and metal attachments is padded with an elastic gasket. The bonding area of the ceramic piece features structures like sandblasting, knurling, and grooving, ensuring mechanical strength, anti-loosening, and anti-twisting properties. The ceramic surface is uniformly glazed white, while the metal attachments are coated with gray magnetic paint. The main structure of the ceramic piece of the insulator has two types: a hollow partition (piercing-type) structure and a solid (non-piercing-type) structure. The bonded pole insulators are generally of the solid non-piercing type. This latter structure reduces maintenance and testing work compared to the former. The ceramic piece of the insulator can have either multi-angled or less-angled shapes, with the multi-angled shape increasing the surface distance and offering better electrical performance. All products except the gradually phased-out external bonded pole insulators are multi-angled. The internal bonding structure, where the metal attachments are glued into the ceramic piece holes, increases the insulation distance and improves electrical performance, while also reducing the space occupied during installation. However, due to the adverse effect of internal bonding on mechanical strength, insulators with high mechanical strength requirements should use a combined bonding method (i.e., the upper attachments use internal bonding, and the lower attachments use external bonding).
