The insulators are composed of porcelain components and upper and lower metal attachments bonded with adhesive. The porcelain component ends are fitted with elastic pads at the bonding points with metal attachments. The bonding areas of the porcelain components feature structures such as sandblasting, knurling, and grooving, providing mechanical strength, anti-loosening, and anti-torsion properties. The porcelain surface is uniformly glazed white, and the metal attachments are coated with gray magnetic paint. The main structure of the porcelain component of the insulator comes in two types: a hollow partition (penetrable) structure and a solid (non-penetrable) structure. The bonded pillar insulators are generally of the solid non-penetrable structure, which reduces maintenance and testing work compared to the previous structure. The porcelain component of the insulator has two shapes: multi-angled and less-angled. The multi-angled shape increases the surface distance and has better electrical properties than the less-angled shape. All products except for the gradually being phased out external bonded pillar insulators are multi-angled. The internal bonding structure, due to the metal attachments being glued into the porcelain holes, increases the insulation distance and improves electrical performance, while also reducing the space required for installation. However, as internal bonding is not beneficial for enhancing mechanical strength, insulators with high mechanical strength requirements should use the bonded assembly method (i.e., the upper attachments are internally bonded, and the lower attachments are externally bonded).
