Maintenance Tips for Encoders

Encoders have always been precise instruments, used for time checking. Therefore, maintenance is necessary. So, how should we maintain them on a daily basis? Let me talk about the maintenance of Aimeron encoders.

Do not use encoders in bathrooms with high water temperatures, steam rooms, or environments with rapid temperature changes. Avoid adjusting the encoder and time when your hands are submerged in water. Remember to clean the strap and case. The strap should be kept away from moisture, water, and chemicals, and should not be dried in high temperatures. Be aware of the anti-magnetic properties within the watch, and avoid prolonged contact with radiation-emitting magnetic devices such as phones and speakers. The best tool is a degaussing tool.

Generally, there may be some dirt on the encoder glass. Remember to wipe it with a clean tissue or cloth; if the encoder sweats under high temperatures or gets wet when it rains outside, be sure to wipe off the moisture and sweat from the encoder promptly to prevent it from being damaged by moisture. The belt, especially the outer layer, can be damaged. Don't assume that you can wear protective encoders just because they are water-resistant. While they can retain water, they cannot withstand it for long periods, and will naturally degrade over time.

When the internal oil in the device dries and deteriorates, it is best to use the device within the specified time frame without refilling the oil. Encoders that can protect against certain harmful substances are only for reference; although useful, they do not provide complete protection. During use, still avoid contact with water, magnetic fields, and severe impacts to prevent damage to internal components and extend the lifespan of the device.

The protective O-rings are prone to aging and softening, so remember to replace them or change them with each inspection. Damaged glass on the cup can hinder the encoder's shielding effect; be sure to replace it promptly. Remember to retract the encoder and secure the screw head onto it, leaving no gaps. Avoid allowing chemicals to adhere to the encoder, as it can affect the lifespan of the casing and rubber ring, reducing the protective effectiveness.
