Tips to Avoid Accidents When Wiring Dry-Type Transformers

Dry-type transformers often encounter numerous circuit issues during production, necessitating special attention to wiring. Proper wiring is essential to fully utilize their performance. Dry-type transformers' wiring methods for both high and low voltage sides are clearly marked on the label. The delta-wye connection is still in use. When installing a distribution cabinet, it is mandatory to wear insulating tools, isolate, calibrate, and lock out. Fuses should be opened and removed in strict accordance with electrical operation specifications. Additional equipment must pass insulation tests before being energized.

Untested windings (high-voltage or low-voltage terminals) should be grounded near the corresponding phase windings. For example, when measuring the high-voltage a phase, ground the terminal to prevent a short circuit in the low-voltage a phase probe. When measuring the low voltage, the neutral point of the high-voltage winding should be grounded. During the measurement, when changing wiring, please disconnect the power to the main measurement unit. Do not leave the equipment side floating to ground to ensure the correct flow of signal current during testing.

Open the load switch on the low-voltage side of the dry-type transformer, then disconnect the high-voltage fuse. Use a high-voltage tester corresponding to the voltage level to verify electricity. After confirming no voltage, install a set of three-phase short-circuit grounding wires on the high-voltage terminals. If there is a low-voltage standby power switch or an inverter power system, turn them off to prevent reverse transmission. When installing the distribution panel, ensure a safe distance from the high-voltage live parts.
