Hot-dip galvanized steel wire gabion offers excellent cost-performance. The galvanized layer effectively blocks air and moisture, making it suitable for dry, low-acid and alkaline inland slope protection projects. This material has good weather resistance, can withstand ordinary sun and rain, and meets the needs of medium-to-short-term soil and water conservation projects. It is an economical choice for riverbank protection and farmland slope protection in plain areas.

Galfan steel wire gabion has superior corrosion resistance. The zinc-aluminum alloy coating offers 2-3 times the rust-proofing capability of standard hot-dipped galvanized coatings. Even in damp riverbanks and coastal areas with salt fog, it can resist corrosion for a long time. Additionally, the steel wire is more flexible, providing excellent impact and erosion resistance, making it suitable for projects requiring high durability, such as river channel improvements during flood seasons and reservoir embankment protection.

The PVC-coated steel wire gabion offers an additional plastic protective layer on the outer surface of the steel wire, enhancing its corrosion and acid-base resistance, making it suitable for soil conservation projects in chemical-polluted areas and regions prone to acid rain. Moreover, the plastic coating reduces frictional wear between the steel wire and stone materials or soil, extending the service life of the gabion. However, caution should be exercised to avoid use in environments exposed to high temperatures and direct sunlight without adequate shade to prevent the plastic coating from aging and cracking.

In addition to material types, when selecting, one must also consider parameters such as plating thickness and wire diameter; thicker plating and thicker wire contribute to stronger tensile and deformation resistance in the cage. Only by precisely matching the riprap cage material to the local climate, hydrological, and soil conditions can the longevity of the soil and water conservation project be enhanced from the source, thus reinforcing the ecological protection barrier.
