Charcoal Briquettes, also known as manufactured charcoal, wood棒, artificial charcoal, recycled charcoal, and smokeless clean charcoal, are made by high-temperature pressing of wood chips. They have a high density and are hard, not easily broken. Their main advantages include easy transportation, smokeless and non-toxic, long burning time, and no cracking. The main disadvantages are difficulty in ignition and a large amount of ash after burning.
Charcoal is made from raw wood through charcoal kiln roasting, with the main advantages being easy ignition, high flame and temperature during burning, and less ash after combustion. The main disadvantages include the possibility of incomplete burning, which can result in a bit of smoke; it is not made from hard shrubs, as the carbon is loose and contains a lot of air, causing cracking during combustion, and it is easily crushed during transportation.
Recently manufactured barbecue charcoal is made from pure charcoal powder, mixed with cinder powder, coal powder, and binder. Due to the use of waste materials such as sawdust, wood chips, shavings, and splinters, the production cost is low and wood usage is conserved. It features easy ignition, quick flame-up, high flames, abundant heat, no need for a fire poker, minimal ash, and long burn time.
However, currently, barbecue charcoal manufactured in China using binder has low cold and heat strength, making it prone to breakage during transportation and handling. Its poor waterproofing results in a lack of strength after being exposed to water, posing difficulties in storage and transportation of the charcoal. Furthermore, the use of resins like polyethylene glycol in the binder raises the cost of the barbecue charcoal, which in turn affects the economic benefits of the company, making it difficult to promote in both civil and industrial applications.
High-strength, low-cost, waterproof, odorless new barbecue charcoal binder, a solid high-performance barbecue charcoal binder. The barbecue charcoal made from it not only has low cost and excellent waterproof performance but also high strength and no pollution during use. The shocking results from authorized testing have shown:
1. Excellent waterproof performance. Maintains original shape without dispersion after soaking in water for several days, with wet-state strength reaching 440-600N per piece (measured after soaking in water for two hours).
2. High compressive strength. Compressive strength ranges from 720N to 1000N per piece, with a drop strength of 90-96%. Dense texture with a crisp sound when tapped; does not disintegrate or collapse when burned.
3. High product performance. Low ash content, flame-resistant. The charcoal produced generally has a heat output greater than 7,000 BTUs, ash content <4%, and fixed carbon content above 80%.
4. Long-lasting burn. Easy to ignite, burns evenly without explosion or sparks. The burn time can reach 2 to 4 hours depending on the quality of the raw materials, and emits a pleasant fragrance during combustion.
5. The product is environmentally friendly. It does not produce any harmful gases during production, emits no odor or smoke when burned, is hygienic and convenient, and is an ideal item for outdoor barbecuing for individuals, families, and organizations.
6. High economic benefits. The charcoal produced by this technology typically costs 150-220 yuan per ton, whereas the existing binder-based charcoal production costs up to 350-500 yuan per ton. This means an additional profit of 200-300 yuan per ton of charcoal.
The product of this technology is achieved by using high-quality biomass charcoal powder as the raw material, adding binder and sulfur fixator, then mixing, kneading, cold pressing into shape, and naturally drying or drying to obtain the product.
