Chemical process pumps should pay attention to the following points during design and pipeline layout:

Selecting the appropriate pipe diameter is crucial. Larger pipe diameters result in lower fluid velocities and reduced friction losses under the same flow rate, but at a higher cost. Smaller pipe diameters can cause a sharp increase in friction losses, necessitating higher head and power for the chemical process pump, thereby increasing costs and operational expenses. Therefore, a comprehensive consideration of both technical and economic factors is essential.

2. Pipe and pipe joints should be designed to withstand greater pressure.

3. The pipeline layout should be as straight as possible, with a minimum number of accessories in the pipeline and a reduced overall length. When a bend is necessary, the bending radius of the elbow should be 3 to 5 times the diameter of the pipeline, and the angle should be as greater than 90 degrees as possible.

4. The discharge side of chemical process pumps must be equipped with valves (such as ball valves or gate valves) and check valves. Valves are used to adjust the operating point of the pump, and check valves prevent the pump from reversing in case of liquid backflow, thereby protecting the pump from the impact of water hammer (when liquid backflows, it can create enormous reverse pressure, leading to pump damage).
