Rotational molding products are also used in a variety of boxes, shells, large pipes, and more, such as racks, casings, protective covers, lampshades, agricultural sprayers, furniture, canoes, RV roofs, amusement park equipment, pots, bathrooms, restrooms, phone booths, billboards, chairs, road barriers, traffic cones, buoys, collision posts, and architectural applications, as well as work barriers.

The rotational molding process is divided into four steps:

Step 1: Pour polymer granules into the mold cavity.

Step 1: Heat the mold to melt polymer granules into a liquid state, then rotate the mold to force the polymer liquid to form in the cavity (over 25 minutes).

Step three: Inject air into the mold until it cools (for more than 25 minutes).

Step 4: Demolding complete.

The vast majority of plastic molding processes, such as injection molding, compression molding, extrusion, and blow molding, which are widely used, involve both plastic and molds under extremely high pressures during the molding process. Consequently, when producing large plastic components using these molding techniques, it is not only necessary to use molds capable of withstanding immense pressure, which can make them heavy and complex, but the plastic molding equipment must also be designed and manufactured to be extremely robust. This accordingly increases the difficulty and cost of machining and manufacturing the machinery and molds.

In contrast, since the rotational molding process only requires the frame to be strong enough to support the weight of the material, mold, and the frame itself, as well as the clamping force to prevent material leakage, even for large and extra-large plastic parts, there is no need for excessively heavy equipment and molds. The processing and manufacturing of the machine and mold are very convenient, with a short production cycle and low costs.

In theory, the parts formed by rotational molding have almost no size limit. Producing such large plastic containers, however, is impossible without a very expensive and large blow molding machine if blow molding is used.

In addition to cost savings, rotational molding is suitable for producing a variety of plastic products in small to medium batches, easily changing the color of the products, and is ideal for forming complex-shaped hollow articles.
