Schneider Electric Exceeds 2024 SSI Goals, Elevates Sustainable Impact to New Heights

    2025-12-08

Beijing, China, February 24, 2025——Schneider Electric, the global leader in industrial technology, has announced the latest results of its "2021-2025 Sustainability Impact Index (SSI) Plan." In the 2024 fiscal year, the company's SSI total score reached 7.55 out of 10, exceeding the annual target of 7.40, fully demonstrating its leading capabilities and unwavering commitment to sustainability.

"Schneider Electric's 2021-2025 Sustainability Impact Index (SSI) Plan: Achievements and Highlights for 2024"

The "Sustainability Impact Index (SSI)" serves as Schneider Electric's quantitative metric for assessing its sustainability performance, which is evaluated quarterly by a third-party auditing agency and refreshed every three to five years. In the 2024 fiscal year, Schneider Electric achieved remarkable results in addressing climate change, efficient resource utilization, upholding integrity and trust, creating equal opportunities, and unleashing potential across generations. The company leveraged its sustainable influence to empower the industry, ecosystems, and the sustainable development of its employees.

In response to climate change, as of the fourth quarter of 2024, Schneider Electric's sustainable impact revenue accounts for 74% of its global total revenue, helping global customers save and reduce 679 million tons of carbon emissions. These figures are expected to reach 80% and 800 million tons, respectively, by 2025. Additionally, to support the green transformation of global industries, Schneider Electric continuously drives the greening of the entire value chain. Since launching the "Zero Carbon Program" for suppliers in 2021, through technical guidance, consulting services, and more, Schneider Electric has significantly assisted the top 1,000 global suppliers in achieving digital and low-carbon transformation. In 2024, the average carbon reduction among "Zero Carbon Program" suppliers globally reached 40%, a substantial increase from the 27% reduction achieved in 2023.

In the pursuit of equal opportunities, Schneider Electric has made groundbreaking progress in 2024. To date, the company has provided clean and reliable power to 53.4 million people, exceeding the goal of 50 million people with clean electricity ahead of schedule. Through rural electrification projects and the extensive deployment of solar solutions in regions like Africa, Schneider Electric has significantly improved the quality of life in local communities, driven local economic development, and accelerated the process of energy democratization. In terms of resource efficiency, Schneider Electric increased the use of green materials in its products to 38% in 2024, and 78% of the single-use plastics in primary and secondary packaging have been replaced with recycled cardboard.

Sustainability is a systemic project encompassing environmental protection, social responsibility, and economic benefits, with talent development being a key factor for both corporate long-term growth and social progress. In upholding honesty and integrity, Schneider Electric promotes all strategic suppliers to provide dignified work for their employees, with 63% of suppliers meeting Schneider Electric's standards by 2024, a significant increase from the 21% share at the end of 2023. In terms of bridging generational gaps and unleashing potential, Schneider Electric has trained over 824,000 people in energy management by 2024, a figure expected to reach one million by the end of 2025. Additionally, through the "Youth Education and Entrepreneurship" program, Schneider Electric aims to help more young people master energy efficiency and other relevant skills, opening up broader employment paths for the younger generation while also providing talent support for the industry's development.

With a long-standing dedication to sustainability, Schneider Electric has earned widespread recognition from global authorities, organizations, and media. In June 2024, the company topped the list of "Most Sustainable Companies in the World 2024" as selected by Time magazine and Statista; it once again claimed the top spot in the Corporate Knights' "Global 100 Best Sustainable Companies," becoming the only organization to achieve this twice; additionally, Schneider Electric has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 14 consecutive years and entered the CDP A-list; based on its long-standing commitment to ESG principles, it has been awarded MSCI's ESG rating of "AAA"; and has received the highest honor of the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, the "Platinum Award." This fully demonstrates Schneider Electric's outstanding performance and long-term commitment to sustainability, as well as its leading influence in promoting the sustainability of the industry and the entire value chain.

Schneider Electric's Chief Sustainability Officer, Chris Leong, stated, "Schneider Electric integrates sustainability into all aspects of our business and actively promotes the continuous evolution of the green value chain. As we enter the final year of the SSI program, we will take concrete actions, joining hands with a wide range of eco-partners, customers, and employees – 'influence creators' – to pursue higher goals with our technological strengths and sustainable experience, driving a comprehensive green transformation of society and the economy, and moving together towards a more efficient and sustainable future."
