Grinding is a process carried out on castings in the foundry. The choice of model should be based on the size and geometric shape of the casting for different grinding types. Generally, small parts use fixed-type grinding wheels, while large parts use suspended grinding wheels. The casting remains stationary while the suspended grinding wheel moves within an appropriate radius, or a portable pneumatic/electric small grinding wheel can be used for grinding any part. Although convenient, it is not very efficient, consumes more small abrasive discs, has high labor intensity, and is costly. The handcart-type grinding wheel machine is more suitable for medium-sized castings for grinding flat surfaces or cutting off excess sprues. The simple handcart-type grinding wheel machine can be homemade in a large-scale foundry, is easy to use, provides suitable results, and its outline dimensions can be adjusted according to the casting.
