The overflow well is set up to ensure that in the event of a power outage or failure of the pumping (or pressure pipe) equipment, the intake gate must be closed, or when situations such as heavy rainfall, combined overflow pump stations exceeding frequency, or sewage exceeding the designed flow rate occur, the incoming water flow cannot be lifted in time. In such cases, the overflow pipe in the overflow well is used temporarily to discharge into natural water bodies (or sewage into stormwater channels) to prevent flooding of the sedimentation pond and affect drainage. The installation of an overflow well must obtain approval from the local health authorities. 1. Location of the overflow well: It should be located before the intake gate of the incoming main pipeline, and on longer incoming pipelines, an overflow well can be added at a certain distance upstream. 2. Overflow height: It should be determined based on the flood level of the receiving water body and must be higher than the flood level, with no allowance for river backflow.
