Camellia, a evergreen shrub or small tree of the Theaceae family and Camellia genus. Young branches are hairless, leaves are elliptic or inversely ovate-elliptic; base is broadly cuneate.

Flower tops are borne, red, and without stems; petals are 6 to 7, obovate.

Fruiting body hairless, style 2.5 cm long, apically 3-lobed; capsules spherical, 2-3-chambered, each chamber containing 1-2 seeds; flowering period from January to April.


Prefers growing in well-drained, warm, moist, and loose, fertile sandy loam.
