JD10 Type Bucket Rain Gauge 1 Overview
![]()
This instrument is a single-measurement precipitation gauge, meeting the national standards GB/T11832-2002 "Bucket-type Rain Gauge" and GB/T11831-2002 "Hydrological Reporting and Telemetry Rain Gauge" requirements.
The core component of this instrument, the bucket, features a three-dimensional streamlined design, allowing for smoother water flipping and boasts self-cleaning dust and easy cleaning capabilities.
2 Construction, Features
As shown in Figure 1, this instrument is composed of the following parts: the rain receiving opening 1, filter screen 2, water inlet funnel 3, flip bucket bracket 4, flip bucket 5, bucket shaft sleeve 6, inclination adjustment device 7, level adjustment device 8, permanent magnet steel 9, reed switch 10, signal output terminals 11, drainage funnel 12, base 13, stainless steel cylinder body 14, and base support legs 15. Among them, the flip bucket bracket 4 is equipped with the bucket shaft sleeve 6, round level bubble, reed switch bracket, and signal output terminals.
Unlike other bucket rain gauges, this instrument features an integrated rotating positioning structure for the bucket shaft sleeve. The bucket 5 is mounted on the bucket shaft and installed in the gem bearings of the two shaft sleeves, making the assembly and disassembly of the bucket easier and eliminating the need to adjust the distance between the two sleeves, thus facilitating on-site installation.
The bucket of this instrument features a three-dimensional streamlined design with a hanging curved surface guiding edge, which is aesthetically pleasing, offers improved water flipping performance, and is easy to clean and maintain.
The water intake funnel of this instrument is tightly mounted with the flip bucket bracket, typically no need to remove the water intake funnel.
The waterway components of this instrument, including the siphon, flip bucket, and drain funnel, are made from high-quality, transparent imported materials, making the observation of the instrument's dynamic working process more intuitive.
The instrument is equipped with two permanent magnets on its bucket and two reed switches on the reed switch bracket. The magnets and reed switches are pre-adjusted to an optimal coupling distance upon the instrument's manufacture, establishing a definite proportional relationship between the instrument's output signal and the number of bucket flips. One of the instrument's two signal outputs is used for on-site counting and measurement, while the other is for remote telemetry signaling. When connecting this instrument to a remote telemetry terminal, a matching interface circuit should be provided to prevent counting and signaling errors caused by reed switch flutter and bucket bounce-back.
This equipment is factory-set with the bucket tilt adjustment screw locked at the optimal tilt base point, and the tilt screw has been sealed with a dot of red paint. During on-site installation, simply follow the instructions to mount the bucket into the two shaft sleeves on the bucket bracket, then level the bracket so that the level bubble is centered. The equipment is ready for use without further on-site adjustment of the bucket tilt.
