Evaporative Air Cooler

I. Overview

Evaporative air coolers, utilizing the evaporation of spray water, expel air outside the tower for cooling and heat exchange of the circulating medium within the tubes, ensuring complete isolation of the circulating medium from the outside environment.

Due to the vaporization of the spray water, a large amount of steam mixes with the air, increasing humidity. This requires a powerful exhaust fan, also known as a blower, to remove the saturated, high-humidity, and high-enthalpy air from the tower. On the surface, it's just air cooling, along with the evaporation of the spray water, commonly referred to as an evaporative air cooler, sometimes also known as an evaporative cooler.

Section 2: Working Principle

1. Vaporization Latent Heat: Essentially the same as in closed-loop cooling towers, relies on the evaporation of spray water outside the heat exchange tubes to absorb the latent heat of vaporization, removing the thermal energy of the industrial circulating water medium inside the sealed heat exchange tubes.

2. Interwall Heat Exchange: Sprayed water and air are completely isolated from the circulating medium, with no contact at all; the process is solely for heat exchange, without contact.

III. Key Advantages

1. Non-evaporative: Only cools, without evaporation or consumption; the circulating medium is completely isolated from external air, with no contact. Ensures no medium evaporation loss or impurities enter, maintaining the stability of the internal medium composition.

2. Non-scaling: Due to no evaporation, the concentration of scaling ions such as calcium, magnesium, and sulfate in the medium remains unchanged, thus no scaling occurs.

3. Easy Maintenance: All coils are fully visible, facilitating maintenance and easy repair.

4. The equipment features four-sided air intake with low air resistance, reducing the fan power.

Commonly used in heavy industries such as iron and steel metallurgy, foundry smelting, petrochemicals, chemical light industry, machinery and power, etc., it resists scaling, reduces evaporation, and is often used for cooling desalinated water and pure water. It cools within sealed heat exchange pipes, completely isolated from the external atmosphere.
