For instance, methods such as electroplating, hot dipping, and spray plating can be used to apply a layer of corrosion-resistant metal, such as zinc, tin, chrome, or nickel, to the surface of steel. These metals often form a dense oxide film due to oxidation, which then prevents water and air from corroding the steel.

Other methods for rust removal on perforated metal sheets include electrochemical maintenance, which utilizes the principle of the galvanic cell to maintain the metal and eliminate the galvanic corrosion caused by the galvanic cell reaction. Electrochemical maintenance is divided into two main categories: anodic maintenance and cathodic maintenance, with cathodic maintenance being more commonly used. Additionally, treating the corrosive medium involves eliminating it, such as frequently cleaning metal devices, placing desiccants in precision instruments, and adding a few corrosion inhibitors that can slow down the corrosion rate to the corrosive medium.

An additional method for rust prevention on climbing mesh structures involves connecting the metal to be maintained with the negative pole of a power source, while using a conductive material as a lazy electrode connected to the positive pole of the power source. Once powered on, the metal surface accumulates a negative charge, thereby inhibiting the loss of electrons and achieving the maintenance goal. This method is primarily used to prevent corrosion of metal equipment in soil, seawater, and river water.
