（(II) Physical Properties: Appearance is white powder with a slippery feel and a fatty taste. Absorbs moisture from the air. Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water or alcohol solutions. The aqueous solution becomes alkaline due to hydrolysis, and upon contact with acid, it decomposes into stearic acid and the corresponding sodium salts.
