What is a brazed plate heat exchanger?

Brazed plate heat exchangers are assembled by stacking metal plates with a certain wavy shape and then brazing them together. Thin rectangular channels are formed between various plates for heat exchange. The heat exchanger is composed of thin metal plates pressed into a wavy pattern. Fluid flows through the channels between the plates via meticulously arranged corner interfaces, with the cold and hot media always flowing in opposite directions in adjacent channels for heat exchange. Since the edges of the plates are brazed, the medium will not leak out of the equipment. The contact points of the brazed plate heat exchangers are also brazed to withstand the pressure of the medium.

Soldered plate heat exchangers are an evolution of removable heat exchangers, with the sealing material transitioning from gaskets to copper or nickel. All plates are bonded together using copper or nickel solder. Just as with removable heat exchangers, where all contact points must be tightly sealed, in soldered heat exchangers, all contact points must be fully soldered to ensure high heat transfer efficiency and pressure resistance, as well as a long service life.
