I. Applications and Specifications of the SZ Series Water Ring Vacuum Pumps:


SZ Water Ring Vacuum Pumps and Compressors are designed for suction or compression of air and other non-corrosive, water-insoluble gases, to create vacuum and pressure within sealed containers.

The SZ series water ring vacuum pumps come in four specifications: SZ-1, SZ-2, SZ-3, and SZ-4. The maximum vacuum levels they can achieve range from 86% to 95%. The maximum pressure for SZ-1 and SZ-2 is 1.0 to 1.4 kg/cm², while for SZ-3 and SZ-4, it's up to 1.5 kg/cm² under the motor power rating. Increasing the motor power allows for a maximum pressure of 2.1 kg/cm² (pump model meaning: e.g., SZ-1, S-Water Ring, Z-Vacuum Pump, 1-Pump Serial Number)


Section 2: Working Principle of SZ Series Water Ring Vacuum Pumps:


The SZ water ring vacuum pump, as shown in Figure 1, has its impeller ① eccentrically mounted inside the pump body ②. Upon startup, a certain height of water is injected into the pump.

Therefore, as the impeller rotates, water is subjected to centrifugal force and forms a rotating water ring③ on the pump body wall. The inner surface of the water ring at the top is tangent to the hub and rotates in the direction of the arrow. During the first half of the rotation, the inner surface of the water ring gradually detaches from the hub, causing the SZ water ring vacuum pump to form and gradually expand the space between the impeller blades. This allows air to be drawn into the suction port. During the second half of the rotation, the inner surface of the water ring gradually approaches the hub, and the volume between the blades decreases, compressing the air between the blades and expelling it.

As this impeller rotates once per revolution, the volume between the blades changes, and the water between each blade moves back and forth like a piston, the SZ water ring vacuum pump continuously and continuously evacuates gas.

Due to heat generation during operation and the expulsion of some water along with gas, it is necessary for the SZ water ring vacuum pump to continuously supply cold water to cool and replenish the water consumed within the pump. The ideal temperature for the supplied cold water is 15°C.

When the gas discharged by the SZ water ring vacuum pump is waste gas, a water tank is connected at the exhaust end. The waste gas and some of the water are discharged into the tank, and then the gas escapes through the outlet pipe of the tank. The water falls to the bottom of the tank and returns to the pump through the return pipe for reuse. If the circulation time is long, it will heat up, and at this point, it is necessary to supply a certain amount of cold water at the water supply location of the tank.


Since water heats up during operation and some of it is exhausted with gas, the SZ water ring vacuum pump must continuously supply cold water to cool and replenish the water consumed inside the pump.

When the gas discharged by the SZ water ring vacuum pump is waste gas, a water tank is connected to the exhaust end. After waste water and some of the tank's water are removed, the gas escapes through the outlet pipe of the tank, while the water falls to the bottom of the tank. It then returns to the pump through the return pipe for reuse. If the water recirculation time is prolonged, it will heat up, and at this point, cold water must be supplied to the tank's water inlet.

SZ Water Ring Vacuum Pumps, when used as compressors, require a gas-water separator at the exhaust end. The water in the gas automatically separates upon entering the separator, with the gas exiting to the required location, while the hot water is released through an automatic switch. (Compressing gas tends to generate heat, turning the water exiting the pump into hot water), the SZ Water Ring Vacuum Pump continuously supplies cold water at the bottom of the separator to replenish the hot water that has been released, also serving as a cooling function.
