Description

Generally, in transition sections such as the back of bridge abutments, the soft connection between the main bridge and approach bridge, uneven settlement occurs due to reasons like non-tight filling material, excessive filling load, insufficient bearing capacity of the foundation, and water seepage. This leads to the phenomenon known as "bridge head jump," where vehicles may bounce. The issue of bridge head jump remains an unsolved challenge, with 70% of bridge maintenance costs being allocated to its repair.

        

Traditional methods involve increasing the bearing capacity of the foundation, which is not only difficult to solve the problem fundamentally but also has issues like overly long construction periods and high costs. When treating the jump-up problem at the old bridge approach, the conventional method of adding a new road surface directly onto the existing one is used to reduce the road slope caused by settlement; however, due to the increased load, the total settlement after maintenance further increases, necessitating the need for similar road surface repairs again at some point in the future, leading to a恶性 cycle of post-construction maintenance and post-construction settlement. The application of lightweight soil solves the problem of jump-ups at bridge approaches effortlessly.
