Porous concrete slab construction steps:
1. Mixing: The cement slurry in the permeable concrete mixture has a higher viscosity and less quantity. To ensure the cement slurry uniformly coats the aggregates, it is advisable to use a forced-action mixer, with a mixing time of over 10 minutes.
2. Permeable Subgrade Casting: Before casting, the subgrade must be moistened with water. Otherwise, the rapid loss of moisture in the permeable pavement will weaken the bonding strength between aggregates. Sprinkle cement slurry to prevent delamination. The permeable subgrade must be compacted with a vibration tamper.
3. Surface Layer Spreading: Avoid vigorous compaction or tamping during the spreading process. Generally, use a flat polishing machine to compact and finish the surface, but be cautious not to use a high-frequency compactor, as it can make the concrete too dense, reducing porosity and affecting permeability. Additionally, high-frequency compaction can cause the cement paste to separate from the coarse aggregate surface, settle at the bottom, and form an impermeable layer, losing the material's permeability. After the polishing machine passes, manual topping and edging are required for any areas with deficiencies.
4. Blind Path Casting: The blind paths of the permeable pavement require custom organic glass molds, filled with mortar. After complete drying and curing, simply spray the color.
5. Maintenance: Due to the numerous pores, permeable paving is prone to water loss and dries quickly, making maintenance crucial. Early-stage maintenance is particularly important to prevent excessive evaporation of moisture in the paving. Generally, the demolding time for permeable concrete is shorter than that for normal concrete, exposing its sides and edges to the air. Use plastic film or colorful tarpaulins to cover the surface and sides promptly to maintain humidity and ensure full hydration of the cement. Start watering the permeable paving the day after it is poured, avoiding direct pressure water jets on the concrete surface as it can wash away some cement paste, creating weaker spots. However, it is acceptable to water from top to bottom under normal conditions. The watering maintenance period for permeable paving should last at least 7 days.
6. Apply a clear topcoat. Once the permeable paving is fully cured, you can spray the colored topcoat. First, rinse the surface of the paving, then wait for the water to completely dry before using a spray gun to apply the colored topcoat. To protect the edges, cover them with transparent tape to prevent staining.
