"Fire Prevention" refers to the elimination of hazards and the prevention of disasters (i.e., the general term for preventing and resolving man-made and natural, accidental disasters encountered in the process of living, working, and studying), of course, in the narrow sense at the initial stage of people's understanding, it is the meaning of (extinguishing) fires.
主要包括 on-site rescue operations at fire incidents, salvaging of critical facilities, equipment, and cultural relics, securing and rescuing valuable property, and extinguishing fires. The aim is to minimize the extent of destruction caused by fires, reduce casualties and property losses.
Firefighting operations mainly include:
① Determine the fire situation and extent of damage, understand the terrain and wind direction at the fire site, the structure and entrances/exits of the building where the fire started, and the condition of the trapped individuals.
② Implement on-site command, organize forces to rush to the fire scene promptly. Select fire extinguishing agents and firefighting equipment based on the nature of the fire, and correctly apply firefighting tactics according to the fire scene conditions. Key methods include fire suppression, establishing firebreaks, blocking fire paths, extinguishing remaining fires, and guarding the fire scene.
③Rapidly rescue trapped individuals and, after transferring injured parties, send them away for medical attention.
④Evacuate or isolate hazardous materials near the fire scene promptly to prevent secondary disasters. Firefighters use water and chemical fire extinguishers, employing fire trucks, extinguishers, mobile pumps, and other equipment for extinguishing. Adhere to the action principles of prioritizing people over property, controlling over extinguishing, and ensuring key areas.
Firefighters refer to individuals engaged in professions (types of jobs) specific to the fire industry. They can be further categorized into fire service personnel, building fire fighters, fire extinguishing and rescue workers, firefighters, fire prevention officers, fire lookout observers, and so on.
