What is a brazed plate heat exchanger?
A brazed plate heat exchanger is assembled from a series of metal plates with a certain wavy shape, which are bonded together through brazing. Thin rectangular channels are formed between various plates for heat exchange. The heat exchanger is composed of thin metal plates pressed into a wavy shape. Fluid flows through the channels between the plates via meticulously arranged corner interfaces, with the cold and hot media always flowing in opposite directions in adjacent channels for heat exchange. Since the edges of the plates are brazed, the medium will not leak out of the equipment. The contact points of the brazed heat exchanger plates are also brazed points to withstand the pressure of the medium.
Brazed plate heat exchangers are an evolution of the removable type, with the sealing material transitioning from gaskets to copper or nickel. All plates are bonded together using copper or nickel brazing. Just as all contact points on removable heat exchanger plates must fit tightly together, all contact points on brazed heat exchangers must be fully brazed to ensure high heat exchange efficiency and pressure resistance, as well as a long service life.
2. Advantages of brazed plate heat exchangers
Durable and highly corrosion-resistant. Made from SUS316 material sheets, either by copper welding or nickel welding. Offers excellent corrosion resistance suitable for various fluids.
2. Resistant to high pressure. The vacuum hard brazing process allows the plate heat exchanger to withstand a pressure of up to 45 bar.
3. Excellent heat transfer performance. The specially designed plate patterns can achieve higher heat transfer efficiency under both reverse flow and parallel flow conditions.
4. High-temperature resistance. The hard brazed plate heat exchanger made of SUS316 material allows operation at temperatures up to 200°C.
5. Compact, convenient, and lightweight. The rigid plate heat exchanger is even more compact and convenient than the shell-and-tube type; it's about 1/5 the size of the shell-and-tube, with the same heat transfer capacity. Plus, it's easier to install and replace.
6. Low maintenance costs. The specially designed plate patterns are fully suitable for turbulent heat transfer conditions, eliminating the need for special and frequent maintenance costs.
