Vertical woodworking bandsaw
Vertical wood saws are stationary, while the woodworking carriage moves left, right, and forward to saw logs. Horizontal wood saws, also known as gantry saws, are designed for cutting very large wood pieces. The wood is mounted on the woodworking carriage, which remains stationary, while the saw carriage moves to cut the wood. The difference between vertical and horizontal saws lies in the arrangement of the saw blades; vertically, the blades are perpendicular to the wood, cutting at a 90-degree angle, while horizontally, the saws move horizontally to cut the wood.
The sawing process begins by passing the logs through and hoisting them onto the saw carriage by a crane. The logs are then secured in place with clamps. The desired thickness of the boards to be cut is input into the control panel of the power distribution box. Next, the band saw is activated, starting the cutting process from the outside in, primarily removing the outer bark or scrap material. After one or two back-and-forth sawing motions, the bark is removed, and the process continues on the finished product. To illustrate, if we set the sawing width to 5 cm, the log moves 5 cm towards the saw blade as the carriage slowly moves back and forth. The saw blade begins cutting the log, emitting a loud noise, and slowly progresses. As it reaches from one end of the log to the other, a 5 cm board is cut. The saw carriage then retracts to the starting position, moves inward by 5 cm, and repeats the process to cut another 5 cm board. This is repeated until the board is fully opened.
