Honing processing

Benefits of Honing Processing:

(1) Wide range of processing, primarily for finishing holes such as cylindrical, stepped, blind, and conical holes. Also suitable for flat, spherical, and shaped surfaces, as well as external cylindrical surfaces. Honing diameters range from 1 to 1,200mm or more, with hole lengths up to 12,000mm. Virtually all workpiece materials can be honed.

       (2) Excellent surface finish; after honing, the surface features a cross-hatched pattern, which is beneficial for the storage of lubricating oil and maintenance of the lubricating film, and is highly wear-resistant with a long service life. Additionally, due to the honing speed being a fraction of the general grinding speed, the grinding force and heat are minimal, resulting in no burns, cracks, alterations, or hardening layers on the workpiece surface.

       (3) High machining accuracy: When using honing for internal bore processing, the roundness and cylindricity can reach 0.005~0.01mm, and the surface roughness value Ra can be up to 0.05~0.2μm. However, it cannot enhance positional accuracy, can replace some grinding processes, and has similar processing efficiency.

(4) Low precision requirements for machine tools; Honing processing can be conducted on specialized honing machines, as well as on lathe, boring, and drilling machines.
