Honing machining

Benefits of Honing Processing:

(1) Wide range of processing: Primarily used for finishing holes, such as cylindrical, stepped, blind, and conical holes, etc. Also applicable to flat, spherical, and shaped surfaces, as well as external cylindrical surfaces. Honing diameters range from 1 to 1,200mm or more, with hole lengths up to 12,000mm. Virtually all workpiece materials can be honed.

       (2) The machined surface quality is excellent. The surface after honing exhibits a cross-hatched pattern, which is conducive to the storage of lubricating oil and the maintenance of the lubricating film, offering resistance to wear and a long service life. Additionally, since the honing speed is only a fraction of the general grinding speed, the grinding force and heat are minimal, preventing the workpiece surface from developing burns, cracks, alterations, or hardening layers.

       (3) High machining accuracy: When using honing to process the inner hole, the roundness and cylindricity can reach 0.005~0.01mm, and the surface roughness value Ra can be as low as 0.05~0.2μm. However, it does not improve positional accuracy; it can replace some grinding processes, and has a processing efficiency comparable to grinding.

(4) Low precision requirements for machine tools; Honing processing can be performed on specialized honing machines, as well as on lathe, boring, and drilling machines.
