Troubleshooting
During sawing, common failures of machine tools include blade breakage, blade drop, and curved wood being sawn out.
(1) During the operation of the machine tool, the saw blade may exhibit abnormal forward and backward movement, accompanied by cracking sounds. It is likely that the saw blade has developed significant cracks, and the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection. Common causes of saw blade breakage include:
Saw Machine Issues: ① Saw machine vibration, bearing wear. Strengthen the machine tool, replace the bearings to ensure stability.
②Tension device malfunctioned, heavy hammer too heavy. Inspect the tension device and adjust the heavy hammer properly.
③ The saw blade face is uneven. The rim face should be flattened.
④ Upper and lower saw wheels are twisted, not on the same "vertical plane." Adjust and align the upper and lower saw wheels.
2. Blade Reasons: ①The blade steel is brittle with low toughness. Choose a blade with good toughness.
② Small saw wheel, thick saw blade. Choose saw blades suitable for the saw wheel. Saw blade thickness = (0.0007-0.001) × saw wheel diameter.
③ Over or under tension. Adjustment to moderate tension.
④Loose joints, poor trimming. Joints welded securely, well-trimmed.
⑤Teeth not sharp, prolonged use. Sharpen the teeth and limit use to two hours.
⑥ The saw blade has cracks, barely usable. Drill a small hole at the root of the crack to prevent expansion; if it's too large, it should be cut and reconnected.
3. Operational Reason: ① The feed rate is too fast; the feed rate should be flexibly controlled based on the specific situation.
② Overloading of raw materials, or not slowing down during holidays. Material supply should be steady, and speed should be reduced during holidays.
③ Resin on the saw blade, sawdust coated too thickly. Remove the resin and sawdust promptly.
(S) When the saw blade moves with the saw wheel, if it shifts forward and backward or suddenly in and out, this condition is called blade jump. There are several causes:
Adjust the upper wheel.
② The saw blade has excessive taper and is uneven. Precision turning and grinding to achieve a flat rim surface.
③Split wood gets caught during return, pull it off. Be mindful of wood defects during operation.
④ Heat in band saws, reduced tension, or even disappearance. Clean the resin sawdust from the saw wheels and saw blades, as well as the debris from the saw holder, and oil frequently.
(3) Reasons for wood bending after sawing typically include:
Saw Machine Issue: ①The tension device is not functioning properly, and the heavy hammer is too light. Generally, repair the tension device and increase the weight of the heavy hammer.
② Saw blade rim face wear, uneven front and rear diameters, machine the rim face.
2. Reasons for saw blade issues: ①Incorrect tooth shape, too small tooth chamber, narrow and biased saw blade. Correct the tooth shape, enlarge the tooth chamber, and adjust the widened saw kerf.
② Uneven tension, loose mouth; adjust tension.
③ Too many joints, improper trimming. Aim to minimize the number of saw blade joints, or provide special repair for saw blades with numerous joints.
3. Operation Reason: ① Inconsistent handover between the upper and lower hands. The upper and lower hands need to focus their thoughts and maintain a unified pace.
②Saw clamp too loose or misaligned; adjust the saw clamp properly.
③ The feeding speed is too fast and uneven. Maintain a steady feeding pace and slow down during holidays.
④ Resin and sawdust on saw blades should be cleared promptly.
⑤The teeth are dull and cannot be used further. The blade is defective; do not force its use.
