The crystals of calcium hydroxide (CH) in cement hydration products can precipitate in highly alkaline pore solutions. However, when zeolite powder is exposed to highly alkaline solutions, it can be attacked by Otr, causing its framework structure to begin to decompose. The resulting [SiO(OH)3]- and [Al(OH)4]- ions enter the solution and combine with Ca2+ to form hydrated silicate (CSH) and hydrated aluminate (CAH).

After the zeolite powder is calcined into a glassy zeolite at temperatures of 500-600°C, its enhanced effects are inferior to that of the original zeolite powder, indicating that the mineral structure of the zeolite no longer retains activity after change. Additionally, the activity of the zeolite powder is related to the zeolite content; the higher the content, the greater the activity. The ammonium ion exchange test can be used to determine the ammonium adsorption value, which can then be used to calibrate the pozzolanic activity of the zeolite.
