Karachi Port is located in the southwest of the Indus River Delta in southern Pakistan, bordering the north side of the Arabian Sea, and serves as a port for Pakistan. Ports K and P are both located within the city of Karachi, sharing the same customs clearance, making the process convenient and cost-effective, although the freight rates are higher. PORT QASIM, situated in the outskirts of Karachi, is a new port with higher trucking costs and a more complicated and time-consuming customs clearance process, but offers relatively cheaper freight rates. How should shipping from Ningbo, Yiwu, and Yongkang, China to Karachi, Pakistan via sea be arranged, and what should be noted?
Be mindful of Pakistan's regulations when exporting to the country:
On March 17th of this year, a notification issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in Karachi stated that importers in Pakistan are required to pay a 10% deposit when opening letters of credit for importing products such as vehicles (whether complete or in parts), mobile phones, cigarettes, jewelry, cosmetics, personal care items, electronic and household appliances.
2. Pakistan has imposed an anti-dumping duty of 24.04% on steel billets imported from China, effective from June 22 of this year, for a duration of five years, to protect its domestic steel industry.
3. As of August 1, 2016, new import customs clearance regulations in Pakistan: customs documents must include a formal bank receipt between the consignee and shipper, no forged documents allowed, and any detected violations will result in the company being added to Pakistan's customs black list at the destination port.
4. The global HS code is the first six digits, while Pakistan uses the first eight digits. For example, HS Code: 8544-4210 represents USB cables, and HS Code: 8504-4090 represents mobile power banks.
