Galvanized Steel Sheets: Galvanizing is a commonly used, economical, and effective corrosion prevention method. Approximately half of the world's zinc production is used for this process. Galvanized steel sheets are typically used for general purposes, roofing, exterior building panels, structural applications, shingle sheets, stretch forming, and deep drawing.
Galvanized steel sheet refers to steel plates with a zinc coating on the surface. Galvanizing is an economical and effective anti-rust method commonly used, with about half of the world's zinc production being used for this process.
Galvanized steel plates can be categorized into several types according to production and processing methods:
1. Hot-dip galvanizing: A thin steel plate is dipped into a molten zinc bath, resulting in a thin layer of zinc adhering to its surface. This process is mainly produced using a continuous galvanizing technique, where rolled steel plates are continuously immersed in a zinc-coated bath to form galvanized steel plates.
2. Alloy-Deposited Galvanized Steel Sheet: This type of steel sheet is also manufactured using the hot-dip process, but immediately after the dipping, it is heated to approximately 500°C. This process promotes the formation of an alloy coating of zinc and iron. The galvanized sheet exhibits good adhesion to paint and welding properties.
3. Electro galvanized steel sheet: This type of galvanized steel sheet, manufactured by electroplating, offers good workability. However, the coating is thinner and less corrosion-resistant than hot-dip galvanized sheet.
4. Single-sided and double-sided electro-galvanized steel sheets: Single-sided electro-galvanized steel sheets refer to products that are zinc-coated on only one side. They offer better adaptability in welding, painting, rust prevention, and processing compared to double-sided electro-galvanized sheets. To overcome the drawback of single-sided zinc-free coating, there is also a type of electro-galvanized sheet with a thin zinc coating on the other side, known as double-sided differential electro-galvanized steel sheets.
5. Alloyed and Composite Galvanized Steel Sheets: These sheets are made by alloying zinc with other metals such as lead and zinc, even to the point of being composite galvanized. They possess both rust-preventive properties and excellent painting performance.
