Identify the cause of the rooftop leakage. Common causes include large cracks, obvious cracks, and localized cracks, etc.
Address leak repairs with different methods based on the cause. For large cracks, apply high-quality waterproof paint. First, clean the roof, then apply the paint at the leak location and even it out with a roller. After the first coat dries, apply a second coat, repeating as necessary. For visible cracks, lay waterproof membrane over them. Clean the perimeter, remove dust, and lay the membrane to achieve waterproofing. For minor cracks, professionals should locate the leak or crack first. If no previous waterproofing, simply clean the leak area to 2-3cm depth and pour asphalt (now available in pre-mixed film form). If waterproofing has been done before, remove the existing layer and leveling layer locally, locate the leak, and chisel out hollowed sections of the leveling layer.
After completing the above steps, a pressure water leakage test is required. The standard is 2kg water pressure for 3 minutes, and 7kg water pressure for 24 hours.
In summary, roof waterproofing and leak repairs should be addressed with specific measures based on the situation. During the repair process, safety must be prioritized to avoid accidents causing injuries or property damage.
