Welded bolt connections are used to securely fasten connected parts with welding bolts, washers, and nuts, as shown in the illustration. Welded bolt connections are suitable for situations where the connected parts are too thick or where structural limitations make it unsuitable to use bolts. One of the connected parts is machined with a bolt hole, while the rest are machined with through holes. In this example, a spring washer is used, which provides anti-loosening properties.
Welding bolts have threads at both ends. One end must be fully threaded into the threaded hole of the connected part, referred to as the threaded end; the other end is used to tighten the nut, known as the fastening end. When drawing the assembly diagram for bolt connections, the nominal length of the welding bolt should be calculated first and a standard value should be chosen.
