Mezzanine shelving systems involve constructing an intermediate mezzanine level within an existing workspace or shelving area to expand storage capacity. These can be designed as two or three levels, suitable for easy access and retrieval.
Lightweight and small to medium-sized goods are suitable for multiple varieties in large quantities or multiple varieties in small quantities, requiring manual handling. Goods are typically transported to the second or third floor using forklifts, hydraulic lifts, or freight elevators, and then delivered to a specific location with lightweight carts or hydraulic trolley trucks. Such systems commonly utilize medium-duty or heavy-duty shelving units as the main support along with the floor deck (the choice of shelving is determined based on the total load capacity of the individual shelves), with the floor deck usually made of cold-rolled steel flooring, patterned steel flooring, or steel grating flooring.
